Who We Are

We're not your typical architecture firm. Honestly, we got tired of the same cookie-cutter designs everywhere, so we started creating spaces that actually matter.

Back in 2012, we started this studio in a cramped office above a coffee shop on Queen West. The espresso was great, the space wasn't. That experience taught us something though - good design isn't about square footage, it's about making every inch count. These days we work on projects ranging from cozy residential renovations to full-scale commercial builds, but the philosophy hasn't changed. We're still obsessed with creating spaces that feel right, function perfectly, and don't trash the planet in the process.

Sustainable design isn't a checkbox for us - it's baked into everything we do. We've learned through trial and error (mostly error, let's be honest) that the best buildings are the ones that work with their environment instead of against it. Our team brings together different perspectives and skills, which means we argue a lot during design meetings, but the end result is always stronger for it.

Ember Quinthale

Principal Architect & Co-Founder

Started drafting buildings on napkins during university lectures. Those napkins turned into actual structures somehow. Spent five years at a corporate firm before realizing life's too short for boring boxes. Now leads our residential projects and spends way too much time perfecting window placements.

Marcus Treadwell

Lead Commercial Designer

Has an almost weird obsession with spatial flow and how people actually move through buildings. Former industrial designer who switched to architecture after realizing buildings are just really big products. Brings a practical edge to every project and isn't afraid to kill a beautiful idea if it doesn't work in reality.

Yuki Nakamura

Sustainability Director

The reason our projects don't just look good but actually perform. Has a background in environmental engineering and got into green building before it was trendy. Keeps us honest about energy performance and material choices. Can calculate thermal bridging in her head, which is both impressive and slightly concerning.

David Park

Interior Space Planning Lead

Believes that interiors make or break a building's success. Started in set design for theatre, which explains his dramatic flair and attention to lighting. Somehow convinced us that spending three hours debating paint samples is a valuable use of time. The clients always love the results though, so we let it slide.

Sarah Chen

Senior Project Manager

The one who actually makes sure things get built on time and on budget. Has worked in construction management for over a decade and knows every contractor in the city. When she says something can't be done, we listen. When she says it can be done but we'll regret it, we really listen.

Tom Ashford

Renovation Specialist

Grew up in his family's renovation business and knows old buildings inside out. Loves the challenge of working with existing structures and finding their hidden potential. Gets genuinely excited about load-bearing walls and original architectural details. His enthusiasm is infectious, even at 7am site meetings.

How We Work

We're pretty straightforward. First meeting is always casual - coffee, site visit, lots of questions. We want to understand how you actually live or work, not just what you think you need. Then comes the fun part where we sketch ideas and bounce concepts around. We'll show you options, explain why some work better than others, and probably disagree with each other in front of you. That's normal. Once we land on a direction, we get into the details - drawings, specifications, material selections. Then we stick with you through construction because that's where designs either come to life or fall apart.
